Taco Bell was looking to create proprietary kids' characters for licensing, advertising and programming purposes. Given David’s background in both advertising and broadcast TV entertainment, he was approached by the client directly. The result: Saturday morning's animated answer to Ronald McDonald, and hot new spokes-pets, Nacho and Dog. David co-wrote, co-art directed and co-produced 8 spots in the Nacho and Dog campaign. The introductory:60 commercial won a silver medal at the Houston Film Festival and was named a 1997 finalist at the prestigious Worldwide Animation Celebration for Best Television Campaign. The success of the Nacho and Dog campaign was also acknowledged with a Silver Promo Award, for best promotional advertising.
